The Story Behind "The Blue Danube" by Strauss
In 1865, Johann Herbeck, choirmaster of the Vienna Men’s Choral Society, commissioned Strauss to write a choral work; due to the composer’s other commitments the piece wasn’t even started. The following year, Austria was defeated by Prussia in the Seven Weeks’ War. Aggravated by post-war economic depression, Viennese morale was at a low and so Strauss was encouraged to revisit his commission and write a joyful waltz song to lift the country’s spirit.

The Story Behind "Fantaisie-Impromptu" by Chopin
The Fantaisie-Impromptu was written in 1834, as were the Four Mazurkas and the Grande valse brillante, but unlike these other works, Chopin never published the Fantaisie-Impromptu. Instead, Julian Fontana published it posthumously, along with other waltzes Opp. 69 and 70. It is unknown why Chopin did not release the Fantaisie-Impromptu. James Huneker called parts of it "mawkish" and "without nobility".

Five Facts You Didn't Know About Debussy
The Mozarts, Beethovens, and Mendelssohns are all examples of legendary and multigenerational, classical music dynasties. Unlike the children in those families, who grew up with musicianship as a focal point in their lives, Debussy grew up in a poor, working-class family. His mother was a seamstress and his father owned a china shop. Claude Debussy’s passion and skill for music, however, was undeniable and the family made the sacrifices necessary to start him in piano lessons when he was seven years old.

The Story Behind The Four Seasons by Vivaldi
Antonio Vivaldi is a genius and truly stands out as the most creative among the host of composers who brought the Italian Baroque style to its zenith. His works ooze the perfection of the 17th-century Italian opera and concerto formats.
Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” is a set of four concertos. The generalized views suggest concertos as a conversation between – a solo instrument or multiple solo instruments and a wider ensemble. Antonio utilized the violin as the sole instrument in “The Four Seasons.”
